Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen

Managing Director/CEO, NIGCOMSAT

Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen has brought commercial discipline, technology expertise and a strong growth orientation to the leadership of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), helping to reposition the organisation as a more commercially driven and technologically ambitious institution. Under her leadership, NIGCOMSAT recorded significant revenue growth, rising from ₦650 million in 2023 to over ₦2 billion in 2025, reflecting a stronger focus on commercial performance, sustainability and the expanded utilisation of Nigeria’s satellite infrastructure.

Her tenure has also focused on broadening NIGCOMSAT’s relevance to Nigeria’s digital economy beyond traditional broadcasting, through connectivity solutions, satellite-enabled services and greater engagement with the private sector. The organisation currently supports more than half of Nigeria’s licensed broadcasters, while expanding its role across telecommunications, enterprise connectivity and digital services.

A significant milestone under this broader vision is the Federal Executive Council’s approval for the acquisition and deployment of NIGCOMSAT-2A and NIGCOMSAT-2B, next-generation High-Throughput Communication Satellites to be delivered by Thales Alenia Space of France and Israel Aerospace Industries. The project is expected to significantly expand Nigeria’s satellite capacity, strengthen national communications infrastructure and reduce the country’s dependence on external satellite systems.

Egerton-Idehen’s experience across telecommunications, technology and business development has enabled her to bring private-sector commercial thinking to the management of a strategic national institution, while positioning NIGCOMSAT to unlock greater value from Nigeria’s digital and space infrastructure.

The Daily Times of Nigeria honours Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen with the Enterprise Award for her transformative leadership in repositioning NIGCOMSAT as a commercially focused, growth-oriented and technologically progressive enterprise, and for demonstrating how strategic technology leadership can unlock greater national value from Nigeria’s satellite and digital infrastructure.
