Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
Minister of Interior
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has emerged as one of the most visible reform-oriented ministers in the Federal Government, using technology, performance management and institutional reform to reshape services under the Ministry of Interior.
One of his most visible achievements has been the clearance of more than 200,000 outstanding passport applications, followed by efforts to make passport processing faster, more centralised and more user-friendly. Digital reforms have also extended to immigration and border management.
His correctional-service reforms have combined decongestion with a more humane approach to justice. More than 4,000 inmates have benefited from interventions that settled minor fines, while reforms have targeted overcrowding, inmate management, staff welfare and rehabilitation.
Across the Ministry’s agencies, Tunji-Ojo has also championed technology, institutional accountability and performance measurement. His approach has increasingly shifted the Interior Ministry from routine administration toward measurable service delivery.
The Daily Times of Nigeria honours Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Transformative Minister of the Year for modernising public services, using technology to improve government delivery and advancing measurable reforms across immigration, corrections and internal security administration.
