Pastor Umo Bassey Eno
Governor, Akwa Ibom State
Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has pursued a development agenda in Akwa Ibom State that combines infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and social welfare under his ARISE Agenda.
His administration has invested in projects intended to strengthen the state’s productive base and reduce dependence on public spending alone. Among the initiatives highlighted are the Ibom Fadama Microfinance Bank, Dakkada Warehouse/Off-taking and Training Centre, the revitalisation of Akwa Ibom Palm Limited and programmes designed to place young people in agribusiness.
The administration’s focus on agriculture and enterprise is significant because it connects government investment with employment, food production and household income. Infrastructure and social interventions have complemented this economic focus, supported communities while creating a broader platform for private investment.
Governor Eno’s leadership has also emphasised a people-centred style of governance, linking public policy to community welfare and economic opportunity.
The Daily Times of Nigeria honours Pastor Umo Bassey Eno as Outstanding Governor (South-South) for development-focused leadership, agricultural and enterprise initiatives, infrastructure investment and sustained attention to the welfare and economic prospects of Akwa Ibom citizens.
